It’s nice to be back up and running again.
I went through a little drama this week wherein I forgot to renew my domain. I’d renewed it for two years the last time (uh, two years ago?) and then, because I never remember things I tell myself to do two years from now, completely forgot when it was due. I fully expected to receive four or five renewal e-mails, you know? LAST CHANCE! RENEW YOUR DOMAIN NOW! That was what had happened last time. However, either they’ve stopped letting you know, or my junk filter works really well right up until the last minute, because I only received one note, on the day it expired.
Truthfully, I didn’t notice much because I tried to spend my three weeks off away from the computer. It was nice. The knot in my back actually went away for a while (it’s back now, though, with a vengeance. Bastard.) I baked, I ate junk, I slept late. I had a glass of wine at lunch (I know, always living on the edge). I had no pressing deadlines (except, apparently, domain renewal).
But I’m back at work now – have been since the second – so I guess it’s time to get back into a groove. I’m looking forward to this year. It holds a lot of promise – Mike did really well last term, so he stands a good chance of getting into Education and doing what he wants, I’m going to finish the draft of my novel, and we can tie up some of the loose ends in our house. Last year was so chaotic, I’m happy to see it gone.
Now, I should really check and see if I ordered anything else in 2004 that needs attention….
