Happy New(?) Year!

So ’08 is over a week old, and I’ve started the year by slacking off!

I’ve stopped making real New Year’s resolutions, because inevitably, like the entire rest of the population, I don’t manage to carry them through. A while back I did start making New Year’s Goals, though, and they seem to work out much better for me. They’re usually business-oriented, but who among you really wants to read about that? I’ve also made a few goals that aren’t business-related, because let’s face it, you’ve gotta have something to shoot for.

So here are some of them:

1. To finish the second edit of my book and find a publisher.

2. To improve my 5k time (this would involve running regularly, which I have to admit I haven’t been doing as often as I should).

3. To hang some art, possibly created by me, in our lovely home.

4. To follow the wisdom of one of my fellow PWAC members, and spend hours I’m not working, but should be, on finding new work. And, on hte flip-side:

5.  To truly balance myself out, so I am not panic working, nor am I feeling guilty about time off. (Yeah, I know. File this one under ‘yearly’. But with a little help from my friends I might be able to manage it.)

I also have other things on my list, like finding a good accountant, pitching some story ideas, and becoming a better cook, but the better cook thing is ongoing and largely dependent on me finding a better cookbook, the accountant thing is just a matter of searching, and the pitching thing is kind of part of number 4 anyway.

So there you have it. There are my goals. What are yours?
